Our current Trustees –
Robert Kerr is a Chartered Accountant within the firm of French Duncan LLP, Glasgow. Born in 1954, Robert was brought up in Glasgow and educated at St. Aloysius College and Strathclyde University where he graduated in 1976 obtaining a BA qualification.
Robert joined French & Cowan (now French Duncan LLP) as a student in 1976 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979. He quickly progressed to Audit Manager and became a partner in 1985 and Managing Partner in 2000. Robert became Chairman of French Duncan LLP in 2011. Throughout his time at French Duncan he has worked on listed clients and for many companies with turnover ranging from £5m to £100m+. Robert provides advice to his clients on audit, accounts and tax matters.
Robert became a trustee of the Bairdwatson Trust at the request of Neil Bairdwatson. Previously, Robert had been the company auditor for over 15 years as a partner in French Duncan. Robert has over 30 years of all-round business experience. He has a strong work ethic – for himself and for others – and is keen that the Trust should help people to access worthwhile employment.
Robert is a family man and has two daughters and in his spare time enjoys golfing, going to the gym, football and socialising.
John Ramsay was born in Dundee and spent his early years in Edinburgh, attending George Watson’s College. He commenced as an indentured trainee accountant in November 1972 with Kirk & Johnston CA, Glasgow. Training included a year spent at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh.
He joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1977 and became a partner in Kirk & Johnston later that year. When the firm merged with French & Cowan CA, Glasgow, he remained as a partner with them until 1989.
He was offered the position of Company Secretary within Mr. Bairdwatson’s engineering Group in August 1989. The Group manufactured ‘breaker steels’ which were used within hydraulic hammers and were marketed throughout the world. The Group also offered expertise in Heat Treatment to numerous concerns in the UK.
John has maintained a connection within the Scout Association, firstly as a youth member and then as an adult volunteer since 1975, in various positions within two Scout Groups, helping with the members aged 7 to 25 and undertaking adult support and training within the Association. He is also a Duke of Edinburgh Award leader.
Jacqueline Leslie is a partner in Harper Macleod LLP. As one of the directors of Nominations (Glasgow) Limited, she represents that body on the board of the Trust.
Jacqueline attended the University of Aberdeen where she graduated LLB (Hons). She specialises in Wills, Trusts, Inheritance Tax Planning, Powers of Attorney and the administration of estates. She is a Notary Public and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Jacqueline is accredited by The Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Trust Law and is a member of the panel which considers applications for accreditation.
Jacqueline is married with two children and in her spare time enjoys cooking and travelling
